The NovaGen 250 is RET's smallest scale wood gasification technology. As a renewable electricity genertaing station, electricity generated by the plant is eligible for Renewable Obligation Certificates (commonly known as ROCs). A critical part of gaining accreditation for ROCs is to demonstrate to Ofgem that the plant has an accurate and reliable method of measuring the Gross Calorific Value (GCV) of the syngas used to fuel the CHP engines. Ofgem have approved RET's proposed method for determining syngas GCV and the plant is now fully approved  for claiming ROCs on generated electricity.
